Trident Maple Before

In 2000, I received this tree from a good friend. The tree was very big!!! I had to train/plant it in the wooded box. As you can see there were few small branches for me to work with. I cut the top of the tree down to create a new apex. In the right picture, I left the top grow for one year without pruning so that the apex can get thicker/taper and the scar can heal faster.
