Development
This tree was obtained at the BCI Convention. It had a
beautiful base growing over a rock (about 10 inches in diameter).
Unfortunately, the top had a 'y' split that detrached from its appearance. It
was necessary for me to choose one of the top. I chose the left branch for apex
because it had already had a small shoot growing at the outward
bend..
After cutting out the right apex, the top of the left
branch was cutt of about 3 branches up and the remaining branches were wired to
form two side branches and a new apex.
At the following
year, I decided to shorten the apex by cutting the top off just above the
second branch on the left. A secondary shoot from the first branch on the right
side was then brought up and grafted to form a back branch just above the first
large scar on the right.
The new apex was allowed to grow
while the first two branches were pinched heavily.
